Okay! I suddenly feel like celebrating my birthday...hahaha...Just this sudden urge. Crazy huh?! This is what happened when you leave a princess too free to wonder and dream about beautiful things in the world. Okay, but not that I think birthday celebration are very beautiful since I dont usually celebrate them.
So with this sudden urge for birthday celebration, I started day-dreaming about how my birthday should be this year and as usual my birthday wish of the year. 2005, I wanted birthday cards that wrote about things my friends wanted to tell me. 2006, I wanted to meet up with all my close friends to have a nice meal. Pretty much it goes the way i wanted it to be. Though Ter, Nick & WX still owe me a frog porridge. ELLO!! My birthday for 2007 reaching very soon eh. You guys better call me up soon before I start to make noise~?!!
For 2007, as usual...I dont want presents! I dont like presents and I am not used to graciously accepting them. This time I want some serious sincerity. I want my friends to cook for me. Be it a simple meal, bake a cake, a perfect nutella cupcake (Shan..*hint*), brownies, cookies, chicken soup whatever. So long as it is EDIBLE food you made it for me, I will be overjoyed. I am thinking of a simple home-cooked dinner, with a simple 3 course meal (soup, main & dessert). I will feel real blissful to watch my friends cook for me. I will be the luckiest girl on earth. Action always speak louder than words. tsk tsk...Then probably after dinner, sit at a balcony overlooking the sea or under a sky and just chat over a drink. Then sing me a song, pat my head and put me to sleep just on the balcony hearing the wave. PERFECT MOMENT!
I am quite dreamy ah?! But dont worry...I know it is a dream...so I am not expecting it to come true the exact way cos I mean where to find a house next to the sea??! I think I will be very contented just with self-made food esp for me.
So friends, start learning for me!!! hmm....i dont like too creamy stuff. Not too much candy either. Brownie or cupcake must be moist. Chocolate cant go wrong but not so bitter. Cookies depend. Meal then must have 愛心湯..If it is western, i like cream of mushroom. Chinese soup then must be double boiled. For mains, I love spagetti vongole (fresh clams pls) either in white wine sauce or Aglio Olio or any Spagetti with tomato base sauce. (Die also dont cook anything creamy.)But if it is chinese menu, I practically eat anything. Just make sure got meat, got vege. Haha...Dessert, you wont go wrong with strawberry crepe or any pudding or caramel stuff. Chinese dessert then I want bird nest or Hashima.
I am making your life so easy by coming up with the menu myself. Actually, I like surprises though hardly anyone can surprise me cos I am too smart for that. Just avoid creamy or milky stuff should be fine. hahaha...
Hey love, I know you are going to plan something real special for me, are you? (Well! After you read this blog, I dont think you have a choice eh). Hopefully, you dont move me to tears again though it is lovely how you can always make me cry.

Graze @ Rochester Park
Graze
4 Rochester Park
Tel: 6775 9000
To celebrate the last day of jac's internship, we decided to patronize this place knowing rochester park is my desire hangout place. Always like those colonial building which makes me feel nostalgic.

I took the first 3 photos from a review blog. So it is not taken by me.
The weather was chilling nice, a perfect time for al fresco dining.

The only thing I love about this restaurant gotta be this screen. They screen black & white classic hollywood movies like my favourite "Breakfast at Tiffany". You could sit and chill out with a glass of wine while enjoying the movie in the arm of ur loved one. Perfect romantic date. (hahahaha....im giving u guys ideas eh) The only shortcoming will be the movie is silent. hahaha...

Cos it was raining cats & dogs earlier, my dear jac reserved a table inside. The decor is armani style of white, black & grey. I prefer the outdoor dining. The ambience inside wasnt up to my expectation for a rochester park restaurant. Definitely not very fine dining either when the people turn up in all sorts of funny clothes. I am not being discriminating but I feel that people should respect by dressing up alittle and not come in berms & jeans like as though they are going to the market. GOSH! If i open a restaurant, i will have a dresscode.
We also made a strange discovery. There is a huge difference in customers profile of those who dine inside and outside. The one inside has really no class. First they have no basic dining etiquette. Second they have no table manner. Third they just have no manner. This family next to us stare at us from head to toe with those demeaning eyes throughout the entire meal. Damn annoying! Then the table behind us really looked like a bunch of people from China cos they eat in such uncouth manner like those Chinese nationals. Stuffing the entire meat into his mouth instead of cutting them into bite sizes and dropping all the food from his mouth all over the place. EEKS! Just make me lose appetite really. Gross! So it was a bad bad experience. I guess the fact that the menu is at affordable range invites really funny customer segment.
While customers dining outdoor are all dressed up in nice dresses and suits. Totally different ambience I am talking about here.

For a wine lover, I heard they have very extensive wine list.

For ambience, it fails terribly maybe except the movie screen. Now for the food. The entree of crispy pork belly is really well done. I have never eaten such delicious pork belly before. However, the fried skin could have been less salty and less hard.

Spagetti of clams. HUGE disappointment. They actually compromise on the freshness of clams which I am utterly shocked. For a plate they are charging at $36, I could have been drowned with fresh clams in Borgo. Here in Graze, they mix 6 fresh clams with a whole cans of canned clams. The lack of freshness makes me sick and my impression of it instantly went negative. The worst spagetti vongole I have ever eaten!

However, jac's prawns were rather fresh and succulent. Her pasta tastes pretty well but not the most fantastic one I have tried. So much for fusion food. I should never have faith in fusion food. Always sucky!

Time for my dessert. Of the variety it offers, none pleases me. & I have to eat a dessert to at least make myself pleased after such disappointing meal. That moment I realized that it is no use to offer variety if the food is bad. I rather have restricted choice but shiok food. Guessing that I cant go so wrong with strawberry ice-cream so thats what I ordered. So-so but made me happy at least cos I get to eat happy food.

Did I mention their customer service sucks too?! We have to ask them to refill our water EVERYtime. & they took a really long time to clear our plates after we have finished our meal. The only person who is quite nice was the malay fat gay that served us towards the end. He was nice so we were very nice to him too.
Even though the whole experience aint great, nonetheless I am just as happy cos of the great company I had. Thanks for your company!

Okay! We werent dress up either. But at least we dont have bad table manner nor dining etiquette. BAH~!

This is one reason why I love you so dearly cos you always make me laugh with all your funny poses for my camera that are just amusingly hilarious. (I know you are going to kill me for posting this pic up but well....good things must share right?)

In conclusion, never patronize this restaurant where you could fetch much better quality food elsewhere with this price range. There aint much ambience to talk about too. However, if your wine knowledge is good, then maybe you can consider just coming here for a drink to chill out while watching classic hollywood movie outdoor under the stars. Definitely up your romantic factor by your date.

黑社會@Vivocity
The Bosses
#02-156, Vivocity
This is a new Cantonese restaurant that is opened in Vivocity next to Sushi Tei. Pretty interesting concept with all black decor. Definitely not the usual traditional setting you would expect from the sterotypical Imperial Kitchen & Crystal Jade chains. I especially love the name. It is interesting how you would find the menu in the drawer. Ever since this place has opened, it has become my favourite chinese eatery. It also has nice view overlooking the sentosa waterfront.

I really cant stand nice looking cockery with zero functionality. This all glass teapot looks all so pretty but it is so blardy hot, I could not hold the cup to drink my tea. Damn stupid!

The food is really shiok so you could practically order anything and I can assure you that you will be more than satisfied. However, the portion is extremely small. So dont be afraid to order more. Price wise it is alittle more expensive than crystal jade but still affordable and reasonable. One meal will probably costs you $20-$25 per person.

This is my favourite. DIE DIE MUST TRY! Chicken wing stuffed with glutineous rice.

Roasted duck meat with the plain la mian just go so well together. Yummy! The crispy roasted duck tastes blend evenly at the touch of the la mian soup which is alittle blend on its own. The soft and QQ handmade la mian just goes easy on your teeth too. A perfect combination!

Do not try this custard bun. Definitely not my cup of tea. The fluffy egg yolk in a wet orangie custard just doesnt mix well together to appeal to my tastebud.

Been happy to be my usual self again hunting for new places to chill or check out new restaurants. Realized it is a luxury and a fortunate thing to be able to have the time, effort, money and great company to do just that.

Cafe del Mare @ Sentosa
Went for a drink at sentosa Siloso beach. Puree has been wanting to check out this place so I brought her there. We sat there to enjoy the night chatting away till 1am when the bar finally closed. We were their last customers.

Why is puree so appalled?

Cos she was about to tell the waiter "I want a quick fuck".

HOUSE @ Dempsey Hill
We head to Dempsey road for teabreak after 2 hours of intensive retail therapy. So decided to explore this new spa restaurant and bar that is newly opened at Dempsy Hill on 19 July.

House
8D Dempsey Road
Tel: 6475 7787
It has extremely interesting decor, a mix between rugged and creative modern design. Check it out! So cool?!

Since the weather is perfect, we decided to sit outside so we could be close to nature. I took a perfect moment of puree. Looking angelic and peaceful, aint she?

They served fusion food. Not bad but not excellent either. Look at the portion and you know puree needs real solid food once she left the place. Definitely alittle pricey.

However, sipping into afternoon tea with these mini tea cakes are heavenly and give you a new definition of your meaning in existence in this world.

The only few things I feel they seriously need improvement are the awful school uniform of the waiters and waitresses, and hire more pleasant looking waiters (they are horrendously fugly). Oh yah! They can up the customer service standard by not shoving the bill in our face twice without us asking for it. (The third time would have made me boycott that place.)
After dinner, we decided to explore the spa area. Here is a glimpse.

We had to take some pictures together. Guess where are we? The female toilet. It is so spacious and clean we were having fun taking photos.

Thanks to our difference in skintone, puree has to try very hard to illuminate my face.

Discovering Uniquely Singapore - 25 July, Wed
To the love of my life
Dont be upset that we are having fun without you while you are feeling real miserable in that land of cows. I didn't blog them to make you feel awful but to let you know you are being missed ALL the time. To keep you in the loop, we have once again took great effort in snapping more pictures for me to post so that we could keep u updated and bringing sg closer to your heart.
On Wednesday, me & puree spent some 13hours together on our quest to discovering uniquely singapore. It was really nice and fulfilling cos I kept puree so happy. (B2, this is evidence that I am out with my GIRLfriend and that I am not ditching you for a HE. So stop saying all those disappointing thing. I will never ditch you for another guy. You are my guy best friend lo, mind you.)
Our day started with 天褔宮 at Amoy Street. Pray for safe trips for Koof, B2 & Da Jie on their exchange. Pray that my family is healthy and happy. Pray that my 2 youngest sisters do well for their A level & O level. Pray that my love is doing well at her intern job in Aussie. Pray that my friend doesnt have to undergo knee surgery. Pray that Puree will always be happy.
Then it was followed by crazy shopping. Because of me, puree is missing her Japan trip for her usual shopping spree. Knowing her taste and style, I know the usual shops are not her cup of tea. So after much thoughts and brainstorming, decided to bring her to sg most creative lane where all the cool and niche shops are located so that Puree could shop. & I know she will love it cos I know puree loves cool stuff. I have always wanted to shop around Ann Siang Road but never have the time and company to. So here comes a good chance. That explains yet another of our virgin experience together.
We took many pictures for your perusal knowing you love cool stuff too and that to show how we always keep you close to our heart. Hopefully, all these creativity will give you inspiration for your project. The place is at the back of chinatown in all the old shophouses transform into modern retail concept.

Fred Perry flagship store
This is currenly a very hot british brand in sg now. Everyone going gar-gar. They sell real expensive but vintage looking limited edition polo-t. Each polo-t cost at least $170 and above. Nice soft colour with interesting collar that makes the wearer real sweet and yet old school cute looking. I would love guys that will look good in those checkered fred perry pull-over. Oh Hot!

Asylum

This is part of the cool design of the store. It was on the floor. Cute aint it? Puree & me go crazy in this shop over all the cutesy camera and their real cool design notebook. We practically went mad. Puree spent $150 over bucks on kiki-kokkok things. She kept saying she needs everything she bought when she just bought out of curiosity.

I am insanely in love with this shop. They sell different scandenavian designer stuff from all the kitchenware to clothes to furniture. I am overjoyed and so moved that I found this brand of kitchenware that I saw in Sweden that I am insanely in love with. Definitely gonna dress up my new place when its ready with all the kitchenware from here. Esp the coffee cups! Even though I dont fancy drinking coffee, those cups are so inviting to buy. I am so going crazy. It was really unexpected findings.
(To my silly friend, after you find another new place to settle in, I want to bring you to this shop so you can stock up your kitchenware from here. I want to buy you the coffee cups and plate set for your new housewarming party. hahaha)
Front Row

This is a modern shophouse feel cafe downstairs with clothes boutique upstairs. Puree saw this nike limited edition shoes and bought them.

Of course to make money worth, she wears it on the spot. So puree! It is really nice to witness puree's moment, the kind where she lives in the world of her own doing what pleases her without giving a hoot about whats happening around her and you see that satisfied and pleased smile on her face. That really warms my heart. So she spent about another $350+++ buying a pair of sneakers and a top. What is most important is that she is happy. That is all that matter to me that day. She makes me fully understand how fulfilling it feels like to make someone so happy.

24 July Lunch appointment with Shan
This week started off by having a shiok lunch at Marutama Ramen while catching up with Shan on Tuesday. I felt bad that she actually remembered that I am starting work this week (Supposedly). So she sms me early in the monday morning to give me her moral support. This is how sweet and thoughtful Shan is that makes her so endearing, you could never bear to dislike her. Then I realized only then that she has actually started work 3 weeks ago. Shame on me!
So decided to meet up for a quick lunch. Went to find her at her work place in UOB plaza. It is cute how she told me her lunch hour is officially 1 hr but its ok for her to disappear from 12noon-2pm. Hmm....issit my maths having problem?
When I first saw her in formal working clothes, it took me awhile to adjust my eyes to recognize that is my friend for 10years. For a moment, the thought that I have always been avoiding (our adulthood & the fact that we are getting older) crept into me. To me, Shan will always be the crazy fren who will really go crazy together with me & say all the real childish thing. Having her around, never make me feel stupid cos I know I will have company to do silly things or say silly thing. & that faithful moment, I was shocked to know how much we have grown and how I have to face with the fact that we are no longer silly secondary school kids without worry or responsibility.
Nevertheless, it was nice afternoon exploring Central Mall. We had Ramen for lunch then walk along the river towards the cannery to go try the dessert. It was definitely a beautiful afternoon, great food and great company. Life can never be this beautiful.
Shan, really very nice catching up with you. Jia you at your work place too. Lets work together towards our life goal and future.

Ramen @ Central Mall
Marutama Ramen
The Central Mall
#03-90/91
It is a tiny japanese ramen eateries at the new mall that is opened in CBD area, Central. It is opened by the Japanese. They speak japanese all the time which I do not have a single clue. But not to worry, they understand what you are trying to say. It is a place for you to have a quick meal. Not a place where you can sit down & chill out cos the queue is very long. The variety of ramen is limited though. Nonetheless, it is SUPER good ramen. Japanese food has never been my favourite. But this is definitely a thumb up. Very good ramen since it is opened by the Japanese so the quality is there. Worth a try & I will swear by my middle name.
The soup is very tasty. The best part is how the spring onion is finely diced like part of the dish. The pork belly meat is heavenly tasty and juicy. The moment you bite, it is so soft that it melt in your mouth and the juice just flow and sip into your tastebud. Simple and yet extremely delicious. Absolutely skillful culinary.

The weather was really chilling these few nights. So it was a perfect weather to do al fresco dining. Sitting out in the open where your view is a patch of green field. That feel of being close to nature just soothe your soul. Make me feel like I am back in Milan Just Cavelli cafe where it is right smack in the park. I was so excited and happy like a free bird. The whole orange feel is so romantic. Definitely a great place for a heart-to-heart chat be it with your significant other or on a all girls night out.
However, the food is really bad. I heard they have decent dessert so we went there for it. The dessert is too rich and creamy. We ordered 2 to share among 3 of us. But it was so filling and creamy, we couldnt finish. We ordered Choco fudge brownie and summer berries pudding. VERY BAD!
I would only go there for the ambience. So I would recommend you have your dinner elsewhere and head here just for a drink to have a long night chat with your date.
That's what I am up to last week
I am really living by the moments. Figured that life is too short to be worrying and getting upset about things that are beyond control. So instead I have learnt to cherish every moment. Life is greater and happier without hope or expectation. As such, whatever happened is a bonus and not by default.
Hence, I have been extremely grateful and happy that I have unexpected holidays weeks after weeks. Now I have another week of holidays after a fulfilling 2 weeks of holidays meeting up with all my friends. I realized I am a real social animal. I just have countless friends to meet and catch up with. A week schedule filled up within one afternoon. Therefore I conclude that I am pretty prepared for a life of tai tai as I have enough friends to go around with to keep myself busy and occupied. Definitely beyond satisfaction and happiness. Pure Bliss.
My last week was basically to spend quality time with Puree. We were kinda inseperable. Every moment was memorable and cherishable. That really made my days or even weeks. I am so going to miss u when you leave mama.
I also met up with a guy friend who just came back from his numerous holidays. He went Shanghai, Aussie, then Beijing, Guangzhuo, then Africa then Hongkong. So envious of him. To make up for missing from my photoshoot day, he met up with me the next day after he touched down to share his travelling stories with me and to show me all his photos (even before he shares them with his gf who is apparently busy). It is nice to know how he is so eager to share with me all his happy moments. It was nice listening to all his interesting and funny stories while enjoying my lunch at Mamalade Pantry on Thursday afternoon. It was even more heartwarming when he told me he bought me a present. Even though he forgot to pass me, it is the thought that he actually remembers me while he is on a holiday that matter most to me. That really kept me extremely happy. See? I am really easily satisfied. (DISCLAIMER: Dont be mistaken that he has something for me cos I am dead sure he isnt. I am definitely not in a state of denial either cos he has a real steady gf of 6 years.)
Moreover, many things are really keeping me happy. Just like this unexpected secondary school classmates gathering on last Tuesday. It was pretty sad to know only 4 of us turn up despite the fact that it has been at least 2-3 years since we last met up and to know that last time our clique consists of at least 15-18 people. Nonetheless, I am still grateful that they show up esp it was organized within such a short notice. It is even more wonderful I dont have to take initiative to ask people out. (I hate asking people out. I am very passive when it comes to that.) Thanks for giving me face by gracing the gathering since Sybil uses my name to organize this. She smsed everyone "I am organizing a gathering for meimei. So better give face and turn up!" Apparently, everyone has grown out of fearing meimei phase so u could see how big my face is now. hahahaha....

The night was short but it was cool to catch up. We had dinner at Raffles City Sushi Tei then went to explore PS cafe at Dempsy Road. Shall update more on the restaurant later.
It was funny how we were discussing about crooked people since Sybil is in the arts industry where 90% of the people are not straight and the straight people are ugly. Also, it wasnt very funny when Sybil admitting it aloud that she swings both ways. Not funny lo! Just want to scare me only. Apparently, whenever she said that my hair stands. EEKS!
It has been really wonderful weeks. It is nicer than having a holiday getaway in foreign countries.

While we are having a smashing great time, we still keep you on our mind.
To the love of my life
I know you have started your internship and you are feeling horrible there struggling and trying to fit into the working culture. I know it sucks that we have to work to graduate even though our dads have money tree. I know you wanted to come back for my garduation even though you didnt. I know you wish to be at the photoshoot day to grace your grand presence where all the important people in my life turn up even though you werent there. I know you miss us and feel real horrible that you are really missing out on all the action me & puree are having the past 2 weeks.
We just want to let you know, we miss you nonetheless and keep you on our mind always. Here is what we have been up to.
17. July
Puree came over to my house for lunch with her own da bao boon tong kee chicken rice cos I couldnt make time to meet her as I need to prepare for my L'Oreal case study for the next day interview and I am fretting like mad cos I have no work done. I was feeling real helpless and stressed. So puree came over to keep me accompany and aided me in the entire process of brainstorming session, field study and she managed to sit through my usual "talking to myself" mode. She drove me all around town for my market research at different supermarkets and pharmacies. It was fun and I felt real assured to have puree physical presence. She pointed out a few key areas which I miss out and gave me alot of tips on how american perspective. She left my house only around midnight if not later.

It was puree's birthday. I had my interview and met up with puree & her friends at Borgo for dinner. I was really happy to bring puree there cos she was so pleased with the food and it feels really nice to see how happy she is. Puree made a huge sacrifice for me. Because she wanted to be here for my graduation, she has to spend her birthday away from her family and live alone in sg. Nonetheless I am glad I made her feel all princessy for the night. Here is a glimpse of it. By the way, the food is really delicious pukey!

We met up again for dinner. Supposedly we are about to explore South Indian food and I called up the restaurant to ask for direction and address. I was super exasperated by the time I managed to spell the street name cos I had a hard time deciphering the code and I think the indian on the other line doesnt understand me plus I couldnt understand him either so he was real pissed off. So I decided to bring Puree elsewhere as I could foresee a huge communication barrier at the Indian restaurant. Then puree fetch me in her cool Merz SLK to go for Peranakan food at Upper Seragoon to only realize that the restaurant closed down when we reached there. With our determination to hunt down great food, we settled for korean food at Auntie Kim's place which happened to be nearby. I must say I am really resourceful to know all the great eateries. So we have super shiok Grilled Sparerib beef, Fried glass noodles, Bibimbab. Though I know Sydney also has great korean restaurant, nothing beats the great company with old pal who thoroughly enjoyed herself and get amused with the slightest things.
Then we went for a drink to a bar near Chijmes (opposite Raffles Hotel) called "Loof". It is on the rooftop of Modliving building at 3rd level. It was a perfect weather that night. Though the bar is alittle small, it was cosy. Both of us have always been wanting to patronize this place since it is one of the cool hangout place in town now. I am glad we have our virgin experience together. It was a very memorable girls' night out. Wish you were here.

The concoction is super strong here so it was kinda bitter and I didnt really like it esp compared to the great drink im used to having at St James. So I had a bad rash after that drink. However, its all worth it cos I had a great time. Ever since puree is back, I have been drinking almost every night. I kinda starting to enjoy drink and training myself not to have rash. hahaha

Pukey, I know you miss chicken rice and all the local food. So while we are gorging ourselves with all the great local delight, we wanted to show our sincerity that we never once forget you. Puree took all these pictures for you admist her dinner and despite all her strong determination to curb her hunger.

OOOOOOO!! Check out the delicious stingray. Are you hungry already?

We had our clams, sambal kangkong and Cheng Tng. SHIOK! We were very full and satisfied cos the meal was cheap.
After which, we went Vivocity to watch La Vie En Rose. Since we had about 45min before the start of the midnight show, I brought Puree to a romantic place. We took many fun picture at the playground, went to the Vivo rooftop to enjoy a romantic walk and look at the stars, the sky, the sea & the moon. We were having an awfully good times doing whatever that make us happy at the playground as though the world only contains the two of us. We were really very happy in our own world.

That was the few things we have done with the little quality time we had the whole of last week. Dont you wish you were here?
